Here are our top 5 favourite fiction books! Some you probably have read, some, add them to the list and hopefully read a chapter whilst sipping on your LUKA Superfoods Drinking Chocolate….
The Bronze Horseman - Paullina Simmons
An oldie but SUCH a goodie.
Ahhhhhhh Tatiana and ALEX, that big brute of a man. Did anything transport you to love, lust, tears, joy and sadness like this book? We were already a fan of Paullina Simons from her debut novel Tully, but this book was one we could pick up at any time and re-read the parts we loved. It's an oldie but a goodie and if you haven't read it, please do so now!
Wimmera - Mark Brandi
Not for the faint hearted but this book truly touched something inside of me. My best friend and I often talk about it without necessarily being able to articulate why.
About 2 boys who had a life changing experience and growing up embodying it. An incredible read that leaves you wondering… and wanting to protect the main characters.
HeartSick - Jessie Stephens
Those emotions you felt when falling in love for the first time….when you thought you had forgotten what it felt like, and how deeply you felt them. This book will quickly remind you. The nostalgia We felt from this book was incredible, resurfacing memories and feelings we had long forgotten existed within us. Ah first love, there's nothing quite like it. Intoxicating, illogical, obsessive, heartbreaking. It is based on 4 different stories, all equally as captivating and equally as brilliant. Loved this book so much and highly recommend it.
Where The Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
Gosh, this was a covid read for us and we were talking it up to anyone who would listen. Maybe too much as some were disappointed so I don't want to do this to you….. But gosh it was INCREDIBLE AND WE ARE OBSESSED AND YOU HAVE TO READ IT. One of our favourite books. It has triumphs and tribulations but deeply satisfies the soul. It shows strength and beauty and is unlike any book we have read. Please, please read it and love it as much as us!!
Boy Swallows Universe - Trent Dalton
It was slow at the beginning and we were going to give up…. But we persevered and gosh what a good decision that was. We find ourselves thinking about this book often. Not only because of the incredible writing, the imaginative narrative and the leading characters - but how instead of finding the main characters lives and experiences depressing, the way it was written we felt like quiet observers, watching every event, eager to discover what would happen next instead of pondering the depressing nature of the event. Brilliant. Truly brilliant. You have to read this.
